Students Offering Services

Students in my club will be trained in peer mediation and assist students who are in conflict with one another to find a solution.   Students will also be trained in a solution-focused way of dealing with issues and teach those skills to other students so they can find solutions to their problems.  Among dealing with social issues, the students who are selected for this club will become peer helpers to those who need it.  They will assist students who might need help with class work or homework.  They could possibly help another student organize his or binder.

Teachers/counselors can recommend students for this type of help or students can seek the help out on their own.

This club is for 7th and 8th grade students only.  S.O.S. club members will remain in this club the entire school year.

Pennsylvania System of School Assessment
PSSA stands for Pennsylvania System of School Assessment and is the standardized test given to students in 3rd, 5th, 8th and 11th grades throughout the state.  The test is based on educational standards that the state determined were essential to students at various grade levels.  The PSSA measures individual student growth within these state standards.  It also measures if a student is proficient in math and reading.  Student results are reported as either advanced, proficient, basic or below basic.
  • Advanced - consistently demonstrates an in-depth understanding of the grade-level appropriate concepts/skills and uses sophisticated strategies to solve a task.
  • Proficient - routinely demonstrates a variety of grade-level appropriate concepts/skills for a particular subject/task.
  • Basic - at times demonstrates some grade-level appropriate concepts/skills for a particular subject/task.
  • Below Basic - seldom demonstrates grade-level appropriate concepts/skills for a particular subject/task.
The Donegal School District recognizes that the PSSAs can be stressful to students.  Some helpful links below from the PA Department of Education might help you prepare your child for the rigors of test taking.
